Sevilla ended Atletico Madrid’s four-game unbeaten run with their first home win since September.
Scorers: Romero 15′
Isaac Romero put Quique Sánchez Flores’ team ahead in the first half when he received Lucas Ocampos’ serve off the post.
The visitors also had to contend with Alvaro Morata limping at half-time in tears after injuring his knee in the first forty-five minutes.
Ocampos appeared to have doubled the lead early in the second half at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium before a VAR review ruled his shot offside.
Sevilla rose to 15th place, due to problems with Mallorca, as they widened the gap between them and relegation from La Liga to six problems.
