Speaking to Russell Edge, deputy editor of Football Insider, Whelan delivered his verdict when Celtic lost 2–1 to Hungarian champion Ferencv-rosi TC on Wednesday night.

When asked through Football Insider if they can still expect to remain Edouard, Whelan said, “I think coming out of the Champions League is negative for that.

“It will be complicated, but it turns out to be a smart character who won’t have wings and said he was looking to stay there.

“You have to be professional and keep working.”
