This all follows a cutting-edge partnership between Dubai-based Mina Cup organisers and SuperCupNI last year.
Some of the UAE’s more sensible skills will head to the JA Sports Center with the aim of securing their place in the Mina Cup in April 2024, but also qualifying for the Premier segment of the SuperCupNI next summer.
Sam Gamble, a member of the tournament monitoring team, has worked extensively with Mina Cup founder Chris Brown over the past 12 months and said it is a partnership with huge potential.
“We are excited to shape this cutting-edge partnership with Copa Mina. Chris is a tournament student, he played for Crewe Alexandra in the late 90s and had such fond memories of our tournament that he looked to create his own tournament in Dubai,” he said.
“Chris visited our tournament this summer, attended several games, in addition to our finals, and was impressed with the teams’ high point.
“He inspired through the warm welcome he gained and the hard paints our volunteers made to make our tournament happen.
“We’ll be keeping an eye on the action and effects as they play out this weekend, and it will be exciting to see who wins the UAE qualifiers and becomes our first participant in the UAE. “
The teams vying for the chance to qualify for the 2024 SuperCupNI feature a diversity of local academies, adding Dubai City FC, Fursan Hispania, IJF Academy and Go Pro Sports, as well as a number of high-level European clubs and leagues with academies and functional schools in Dubai. adding Manchester City, a La Liga academy and Barcelona.
The 2023 Mina Cup attracted teams from all over the world, adding Crystal Palace, Pumas UNAM, Poland’s Gornik Zabrze, New York Red Bulls, Yokohoma FC, and Southampton FC, taking on some of the skill in the Middle East.
