Manchester City are extremely pleased to announce the trial of a large-scale bus network for Greater Manchester enthusiasts to and from the Etihad Stadium on a fit day.
The committed service network will be operated and controlled through Transport for Greater Manchester (TFGM) and testing will begin ahead of Chelsea’s match on 17 February. The service will continue to operate in each and every house located at the Etihad Stadium until the end. of the season.
By connecting fans across the region through a direct and reliable mode of travel, the new bus network will create a low-priced option for fans, making travelling to matches more efficient and increasingly sustainable.
Overall, the bus network will feature 17 other routes spread over 60 stops and cover a combined total of more than 340 miles.
These itineraries were consciously decided after a detailed investigation of the knowledge of fans who knew spaces with limited existing options, or with a dense population of season ticket holders.

Commenting on the arrival of the bus network, Danny Wilson, Manchester City’s Chief Operating Officer, said: “We need all our enthusiasts to have an amazing experience when they come to the Etihad Stadium, and we know that travelling to and from the right location can play a key role in achieving this. That’s why we’re investing in a partnership with Transport for Greater Manchester to test a sustainable and reliable mode of shipping that will make travel easier for many of our enthusiasts.
“The arrival of this test comes after a detailed investigation of the fan arrangement that helped us identify spaces with limited features and scale up a large-scale custom operation tailored to our fans. “
This is the latest phase of the Club and TFGM’s experimentation with bus networks, with a small number of routes operating during the early part of the season. This test demonstrated the benefits of the service, while highlighting a number of innovations we’ve made to create a more reliable and fun way to travel for fans.
This is part of the wider agreements between the Club and the TFGM to offer transport services for fans, to which other innovations have been carried out recently, such as the arrival of double trams with additional capacity on good form days, which run every six minutes. They have also been added to the Etihad Campus, which can store a total of 240 motorcycles.
Andy Burnham, Mayor of Greater Manchester, added: “This is an exciting test that will give Manchester City FC fans some other option to get to and from matches at the Etihad in an affordable, convenient, safe and sustainable way.
“This month we have already added a new six-minute Metrolink service between the city centre and the Etihad campus, and this new partnership between TfGM and Manchester City Football Club demonstrates a broader vision for others to reach one of the city’s most iconic sporting venues. Places. .

All of the buses used in the trial will be fully accessible for wheelchair users and have low floors to make it easier for fans who use wheelchairs, mobility scooters or those with small children and pushchairs.
Tickets in Zone 1 will be priced at £6 for a return journey, while those in Zone 2 will be priced at £8. These zones were in accordance with the Metrolink zoning system. Tickets cannot be booked in advance, meaning they will have to be purchased on the bus using card or cash.
One bus will operate as directed and there will be room for an average of 80 passengers per bus. Seats will be assigned on a first-come, first-served basis.
Meanwhile, existing and personal bus rental systems will not be affected during the trial and are expected to continue as usual.
