By our count, there are 11 Wisconsinites currently in action in some capacity across Major League Baseball.
Ben Heller, Yankees (Whitewater). Heller, a reliever who missed all of 2018 after Tommy John surgery, showed well in six games last year and he’s thrown one inning for the Yankees in 2020, but he was sent to the alternate training site thereafter. He replaced an injured CC Sabathia on the New York roster in last year’s playoffs.
Owen Miller, Padres (Ozaukee). One of the organization’s top 10 prospects, the infielder hit .290 at Class AA last year but struggled in the Arizona Fall League. He’s in the 60-man player pool and could get pressed into duty on the big-league club, but he’s still ascending at the moment.
