In a few hours, a team will realize it’s in time for the 2020 NBA draft.
The draft lottery takes place last spring, however, the COVID-19 pandemic forced the league to wait for the occasion until Thursday night. The draft itself is scheduled for October 16, which is when groups are in education camp before the normal season.
Instead, team staff will spend part of the summer and early fall doing what they can to compare the most productive players in the 2020 draft class. In addition to the fact that the pandemic has interrupted the 2019-2020 school basketball season, it is unclear to what extent the groups will be able to observe players in classic user practices.
To complicate matters, many argued that the new customer organization lacked exceptionals like Zion Williamson or Ja Morant last year.
The last 16 first-round picks are already locked, waiting for any industry between now and the night of the draft, as they are in the standings of the normal season. The first 14 options will feature the effects of Thursday night’s lottery.

Best for the 2020 draft
Bal LaMelo, PG, Illawarra Hawks
Rejecting school to play in Australia worked quite well for LaMelo Ball, even though a foot injury ended its season in January.
Ball averaged 17.0 points, 7.6 rebounds and 6.8 assists in 12 NBL appearances for the Illawarra Hawks. His remarkable performance came here last November, when he finished with 32 points, thirteen assists and 10 rebounds in the 114-106 win over the Cairns Taipans.
Ball’s shot remains a picture in progress. He hit 37.5% of his total and 25.0% of his 3 points.
It’s anything that can improve with enough paints and repetition. Ball doesn’t have to be Stephen Curry to have a positive effect on the ground. He is a dynamic game creator whose 6’7″ structure will cause apparent confrontational disorders unlike smaller guards.
Anthony Edwards, SG, Georgia
Jonathan Wasserman of Bleacher Report ranked former Georgia baseman Anthony Edwards fourth in his image in July and described his game:
“At 18, Edwards has reached the 25-point mark seven times in 32 games, demonstrating an ability to take care of the stretch with a deep-shooting game that prepares for his driving. He ranked in the 72th percentile by isolation, hitting defenders with crosses on riders, climbs and lights, backward steps and jumps.
“On the other hand, Edwards is one of 75 school players to attempt at least 4 shots consistent with the game, and his 28.6 goals consists of a percentage of shots tied in 71st place.”
As with Ball, shooting is a fear for Edwards. It was 29.4% beyond the arch. Unlike Ball, he only has 2.8 assists consistent with the game. Much of Edwards’ offensive price will come from his score, which he emphasizes being an effective shooter.
It’s not hard to see why groups give a price to a player who averages 19.1 numbers and was the first SEC student of the year. However, Edwards carries a risk as it is inscribed on drawing boards.
James Wiseman, C, Memphis
James Wiseman traveled to Memphis with enthusiasm as the No. 1 rookie in the 247Sports composite standings for 2019.
Fans had to watch it three times before he won a 12-game NCAA suspension and then left the Tigers. As a result, Wiseman is one of the biggest pranksters in the draft.
Taking a look at his college career is almost impossible. He faced the state of South Carolina and the UIC in his first two games, and his numbers (5 out of 8 on the ground, 14 points, 12 rebounds, one block) in an 82-74 loss to Oregon were still nothing spectacular.
Wiseman’s fear is that his skill set will be too limited at a time when all classic centers, so far, are essentially interchangeable in the NBA. He tried a triple in his brief career in Memphis, and it’s unclear whether his nine locks are a mirror image of the hoop coverage he will provide or more because of his 7’1″ frame.
Obi Toppin, PF, Dayton
Obi Toppin on March 22, making him a senior stadist in this year’s class.
When the NCAA canceled the NCAA basketball tournament, one of the biggest drawbacks was that Dayton lost the chance to fully enjoy what is shaping up as one of the most productive seasons in the show’s history.
No one played a bigger role in the Good Fortune of the Flyers than Toppin, who won almost each and every one of the primary individual awards for 2019-20. He averaged 20.0 points and 7.5 rebounds while recording an impressive touch of scoring. He drew 63.3% of the box and 39.0% of the perimeter.
Toppin would probably not have the same type of cap as players who are two or even 3 years younger in this draft. Jayson Tatum, De’Aaron Fox and Lonzo Ball are the same age as Toppin, but have three NBA seasons to their credit.
The compensation is that the Dayton star can have a faster effect compared to some of his draft teammates.
