Conference semifinal predictions
Raptors vs. Celtics
Toronto miraculously escaped certain death in the playoffs with the miracle of OG Anunoby dragging game three away from Boston, and the Raptors propelled that momentum to a 100-93 win in the fourth game to tie the series.
But the Celtics’ reaction in the fifth game may have placed them in the series, and not just in the sense that they regained the lead in 3-2. Whether I saw it as a dominant defensive effort through the Shamrocks or a horrific Raptors offense, it was probably a bit of both, it was as if one team was breaking up with the other.
“We were on a lot of goals,” Celtics coach Brad Stevens told reporters. “You can feel it from the beginning. “
The Celtics beat the Raptors through 35 problems in five games. Boston has 3 of the 4 most sensitive scorers in this series (Jayson Tatum, Kemba Walker and Jaylen Brown), and they have held Toronto to 3 of the 4 lowest scoring games of the game. Perhaps the protective champs can conjure a miracle, but it looks like the Celtics’ losing streak.
Prediction: Celtics win in six.
Lakers vs Rockets
The Lakers lost the first game in this series on a night when their stars didn’t glow blindly and their cast couldn’t buy a bucket. Where did we hear that?
Oh, yes, that’s how their first-round match with the Portland Trail Blazers opened, before LeBron James and Anthony Davis propelled the Purple and Gold to four straight wins, each with at least 8 points.
Will history repeat itself? Yes and no.
Yes, in the sense that the Lakers are still the logical choice to escape this series. No, in the sense that the Rockets have enough firepower to put a few more wins on their record before all is said and done.
James Harden hasn’t had a 40-point explosion in those playoffs; Considering that number is erased 21 times in the normal season, you can replace it at any time. Russell Westbrook’s return to form in Game 3 (30 points, 8 tables, and six assists) may just signify a statistical barrage to get there faster or later.
Houston can get hot and Los Angeles actors can freeze. But as undeniable as this investigation seems, the fact that one team has James and Davis and the other step can also be the deciding factor in which one survives a likely long series.
Prediction: Lakers in Sevens.
Clippers vs Nuggets
It’s okay to admit it: When the Clippers beat the Nuggets 120-97 in Game 1, you imagine the streak ended. We all have.
Denver then hit a first quarter of 44 points in Game 2 and took that hot start to the baseline. While L. A. se recovered to win Game 3, the Nuggets resisted much more and entered the last quarter with an advantage they eventually lost in a 113-107 defeat.
The Nuggets fighting. Clippers will have to earn their place in the convention finals.
Fortunately, they have Kawhi Leonard and Paul George to take them there. Each has at least 29 points, so Leonard had 29 in the first game, George scored 32 in Game 3, and they still have to mix their powers in the same game.
As Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray and Michael Porter Jr. may be, the Leonard-George combo feels like an insurmountable merit in this series.
Prediction: Clippers in six.
