American musician and stylist Pharrell Williams will bring the Olympic flame to Seine-Saint-Denis on Friday before traveling to Paris for the opening ceremony, someone close to the organization told us.
Multi-award-winning artist Pharrell Williams is best known for his global dance hits “Get Lucky,” arranged with the duo Daft Punk in 2013 and “Lucky. “In 2023, he was appointed artistic director of Louis Vuitton’s men’s collections. the flagship logo of luxury giant LVMH, a premium sponsor of the Paris Olympics (July 26 to August 11).
The 51-year-old American will be one of the Olympic torchbearers in Seine-Saint-Denis, the youngest and poorest branch of metropolitan France, north of Paris.
The flame, which began its adventure in Athens in April and then in Marseille, travels through this popular territory on Thursday and Friday, passing by the Basilica of Saint-Denis, known for its royal necropolis, before arriving in Paris for the ceremony of opening. The identity of the last relief remains unknown.
A bouquet of stars and personalities will be presented on Friday in Seine-Saint-Denis, including former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and current World Health Organization director Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, as well as rapper MC Solaar and actress Laetitia Casta.
