Manchester City will participate in this year’s Club World Cup as defending champions after the trophy in 2023.
However, unlike their first crusade where seven groups competed, this summer 32 groups will compete for the title.
The new tournament format organised through FIFA will see some of the biggest names in club football compete in a similar way to a World Cup or European Championship.

In order to reach the knockout stages, City must first successfully navigate the group stage where the top two teams from each group will qualify.
City have been drawn into Group G with Wydad AC, Al Ain and Juventus.

The City Council’s calendar for the circular on the 16th will be decided once the level of organization has been finalized.
This year’s Club World Cup kicks off on Saturday, June 14 when Inter Miami takes on Al Ahly FC at Hard Rock Stadium and the final is scheduled for Sunday, July 13 at MetLife Stadium.
In total 32 teams will be competing at the Club World Cup with all international federations represented.
Inter Miami also claimed a spot in the tournament thanks to the United States being the host.
