39,875 million euros and more: the billing of the Celtic Champions League to date | Advised

It shows how important it is Celtic compete at this level regularly, or better still on an annual basis. The bounty on offer for the Champions League is as we know very lucrative, but today it was laid out just how much important competing at this stage is to our football club.

According to a reliable data site Celtic has made a whopping €39.875 million (£32.85 million) thus far in our European campaign.

Taking into account that we still have two games, we have the opportunity to win much more with 2. 1 million euros presented for a victory and 0. 7 euros for a draw, which can make our accumulated award even more.

With a play off place still much achievable those riches can grow with €1 million guaranteed for reaching the play offs, and a whopping €11 million on offer for reaching the last 16.

That pales into significance though with the whopping €82 million earned by Liverpool who occupy top spot. Indeed all clubs from the so called bigger leagues who are in or about the top eight have earned upwards of €60million so far.

As for Celtic however, it shows how important it is to compete at this level purely on a financial basis.

Compared to clubs in the big five leagues of England, Germany, Spain, Italy and France, Celtic’s means of generating revenue streams are hampered lately by our modest football landscape in Scotland, where Liverpool, JuventusArray, Barcelona, PSG and Bayern Munich are located. According to ExpressVPN’s report on the most streamed sporting events, it is clear that Celtic’s maximum productive direction towards a competitive profit point will be to triumph in the UEFA Champions League. This could simply close the hole in streaming profits that exists due to the way satellite streaming has replaced the landscape.

Celtic have already established a huge lead at the top of the Scottish premiership this season, sitting nine points ahead of second-placed Aberdeen with an attack in hand. It would be a huge surprise if Brendan Rodgers and his exciting team handed out the name for a fourth consecutive season and that would be thirteen names in 14 seasons for the club.

However, unlike this current season, automatic qualification for next season’s Champions League will NOT be offered for the 2024/25 Scottish champions, so we will look at a play-off round to secure our place. The club will have to be very careful to ensure the team is fully informed as we have already been through too many times when Celtic failed to win the big prize in those treacherous summer qualifiers.

Celtic’s good fortune in the Champions League this season will also increase the Scottish champions’ chances of earning an automatic place next season.

Brendan Rodgers is a build of a team that wins games (two and more) and can take on problems opposite to warring parties like Atalanta, the existing Europa League holders. With only one defeat and 3 draws in the first six games of eight, Celtic. It appears to be a club in the new Champions League format.

There are two matches left, the first against the young champions of Switzerland, who have lost all six of their matches so far and are already withdrawn from the competition. Next up is Aston Villa at the end of January, a meeting between two former European champions in what is a special occasion for any of the supporters.

Incidentally Aston Villa’s route back into the Champions League seems much more challenging than Celtic’s. They have to finish in the top four in the Premier League – currently they are in sixth place – or they have to win the Champions League. That’s possibly but also unlikely.
