When the Giants first put the pads on Monday, they had their franchisee in the box with them.

Through Stapleton Art of NorthJersey.com, the Giants activated defensive lineman Leonard Williams from active/non-football injuries.

Williams placed himself on the NFI list with a hamstring challenge on August 2.

This year he bets on the franchise tag, a very expensive contract after exchanging a couple of draft picks for him last year. They didn’t make a long-term deal before the July 15 deadline, so you can only signal after the season.

He lamented the salary between defensive tackles scored ($16.1 million) and defensive wings ($17.8 million).
