BERLIN: The 2020/21 Bundesliga season begins on Friday when Bayern Munich, the name holder, launches their search for a ninth consecutive home name against Schalke.
AFP Sport has five new recruits to watch this season:
Leroy Sane (Bayern Munich)
Bayern Munich have paid Manchester City forty-five million euros to get Sane back in the Bundesliga and the German winger hopes to make his home debut on Friday against Schalke 04, where he has developed his career.
There is a lot of tension in the 24-year-old to show Bayern’s call to star quality and realize its potential.
Sane is used to getting away from matches and Bayern coach Hansi Flick has already challenged him to paint in his defence.
“I have big goals with FC Bayern and I need to prove that other people can count on me,” Sane said.
Jude Bellingham (Borussia Dortmund)
England’s 17-year-old foreign junior has become the youngest scorer in the German Cup on Monday after signing for 26 million euros from Birmingham City when Duisburg rules 5-0 in the German Cup.
The skilled central midfielder has already inspired his teammates with his maturity, even if he is only 18 next June.
“He’s only 17, but he plays like a man,” Dortmund striker Thorgan Hazard said after Bellingham’s deyet.
“He is a very intelligent player to maintain the balance between attack and defense. We can do a lot.
Expect to see Bellingham with England winger Jadon Sancho and 20-year-old Norwegian striker Erling Braut Haaland.
Hwang Hee-Chan (RB Leipzig)
The South Korean striker has been signed through Red Bull’s flagship club Salzburg for 15 million euros and is tasked with replacing Timo Werner, who scored 34 goals last season before joining Chelsea.
The 24-year-old is “one of South Korea’s greatest emerging talents” through former Leipzig and Salzburg head coach Ralf Rangnick.
He has already opened his scoring for Leipzig and created a purpose in Saturday’s 3-0 German Cup win over Nuremberg.
Hwang has scored twice in 21 appearances in Hamburg and one injury assignment in 2018/19.
However, he controlled 16 goals and 22 assists in 40 games last season. Salzburg won a double in the Austrian League and Cup.
He was inspired by the Champions League level last season, scoring 3 goals and creating five more at the organization level, along with Dortmund star Haaland, while Salzburg gave Liverpool and Napoli a run for their money.
Tahith Chong (Werder Bremen)
Bremen has simply moved away from relegation last season, but strengthened his attack by signing the 20-year-old winger on loan from Manchester United.
The promising Dutch under-21 foreigner from the Caribbean island of Curacao has already hit the target for Bremen.
“Helping the team with their own qualities, that’s what you want,” Chong said after scoring on his debut last weekend in the 2-0 German Cup win over Carl Zeiss Jena.
Chong followed in the footsteps of Ryan Giggs, Paul Scholes and Marcus Rashford by being named United’s Young Player of the Year in 2017/18 and then voted the reserve team’s most productive player the following season.
He broke into United’s first team with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer at the time of 2018/19 and normal first-team football in Bremen this fourth.
He hopes to make his Bundesliga debut at Hertha Berlin on Saturday.
Reinier (Borussia Dortmund)
Reinier Jesus Carvalho, 18, has signed a two-year contract with Real Madrid to reinforce Dortmund’s attacking midfielder options.
The under-23 Brazilian will compete with Julian Brandt and 17-year-old American star Giovanni Reyna for the role of assistant club captain Marco Reus, who returns from his injury.
Reiner made his Dortmund debut in the Duisburg beating on Monday to upgrade Sancho in half.
“Reinier is a player who brings great skill and can be used in attack positions,” said Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc.
“We’ve been following him for over two years. “
