Here are five Texas High School football scenarios in Dallas that you need to stick to this week:

Last week, there were slightly fewer games on the calendar than the previous week, because the fourth week for teams 5A and 6A presented the possibility of an open week before the start of the district game.

And while some districts have already played, this week marks a turning point for many Dallas-area football teams. It’s time for the district game to be in full swing.

While out-of-district play provides a lot of material for strength ratings, district games matter, finding out which groups will participate in the playoffs or not.

It’s also the first time we’ve had clashes between regional districts in the first season of the 2020-22 ITI realignment.

Here are some notable districts this week:

– Arlington Martin v South Grand Prairie

– Frisco Lebanon Trail Frisco

– Arlington Bowie v Arlington Lamar

– Colleyville Heritage vs. Richland

– McKinney vs. Denton Guyer

– Marcus flower mound vs Flower Mound

– Rockwall-Heath vs. Rockwall

The last two games discussed in the above list are intriguing only because they are between Crosstown rivals, but because of the clashes they present.

Flower Mound Marcus, the state’s No. 22 team last week, looked smart in three games. The Marauders beat their first three war games, Jesuit, McKinney and Keller Central, with a total of 73 points. A great explanation for why the offense is, led by LSU Quarterback Garrett Nussmeier (910 yards per air, 12 touchdowns and two interceptions) and receivers J. Michael Sturdivant (23 receptions, 267 yards and 4 touchdowns) and Tyler Schott (13 receptions, 233 yards and 4 touchdowns).

Nussmeier and the Marauders will check their explosive attack against a Flower Mound defense that allowed the least amount of problems at point 6A among groups that have played 3 matches. The commitment of SMU Stone Eby, a pre-season variety for all areas, is one of the main reasons.

Marcus scored at the last minute last year to win the “Mound Showdown” for the first time since 2016.

Another Crosstown rivalry game will feature two of the state’s maximum explosive offenses: Rockwall-Heath and Rockwall, both groups to defeat, average more than 500 yards consistent with the game. Josh Hoover of Heath and Bradeyn Locke of Rockwall are also two of the region’s top prolifics. quarterbacks. Hoover has nearly 1,100 yards in 3 games and 11 landing passes. Locke pitched for 1,158 yards and 12 landings in four games.

Rockwall climbed to the top after a big win over Southlake Carroll in Week 3, but disappointed by an unbalanced loss to Central 5A Highland Park last Friday. A district victory opposed to an opponent can give the Yellowjackets momentum.

This week marks only the beginning of the district game at 11-6A, but also the first chance to see the district’s “zone” design in action.

Due to the pandemic, the District Executive Committee 11-6A decided to split the district in two and play an all-against-all tournament between the four groups in each of the zones. After 3 weeks, the groups in each of the zones will be ranked among the most sensitive seeds and will play as opposed to the corresponding most sensitive seeds in the other area – 1 vs. 1, 2 vs. 2, 3 vs. 3, four versus four – to the overall rating of the district playoffs.

The winner of the adjustment between the two most sensible seeded will be the district champion.

This design is attractive because it gives monumental importance to the next 3 weeks. Each game in the district used to count, but now groups will only have 3 opportunities to show if they deserve to be part of the 4 groups heading to the playoffs.

Add to that the fact that this community has some of the groups in the state and that makes the next 3 weeks even more intriguing.

Here are this week’s District 11-6A games:

– Duncanville v. Waco

– Mansfield Lake Ridge v Cedar Hill

– Waxahachie vs. DeSoto

– Waco Midway vs. Mansfield

It has been five weeks since the UIL 5A and 6A groups were allowed to start playing. That’s what makes Rowlett’s record so shocking: 0-0.

The Eagles had to cancel their first two games after positive control of COVID-1nine on the team. Their October 9 game with Sachse was postponed and they had a week open last week.

“I think we outperformed our ability to prepare for invisible obstacles,” Rowlett’s head coach Doug Stephens told the Dallas Morning News last week. “The only way to show that you’ve tried the stage is to faint and act well.

“We haven’t had that possibility yet. “

Rowlett, who missed the playoffs after a 4-6 feature last year, will nevertheless have that chance when he takes on North Garland in his first season game on Thursday.

Rowlett is the only team affected by COVID-19. Colleyville Heritage and Red Oak, for example, have played since the first week.

Colleyville Heritage claimed an impressive 48-24 victory over Grapevine in the deyet of former Manvel head coach Kirk Martin, while Red Oak lost 52-21 to Ennis, the state’s top 5A-II team. Quarterback Josh Ervin, the 2019 offensive player in the Red Oak district, however, in the end played the maximum opposite of Chris Parson, who was the starter in duncanville’s state championship loss to Galena Park North Shore last year.

Heritage will play undefeated Richland, while Red Oak will face Mansfield Legacy.

Another attractive thing about transitioning from one district out of one district to another: for the first time this season, many groups faced conflicting parties that did not have the luxury of choosing. Fast-paced outings that sell out during district hours are not unusual in high school football. The beginning of the district game for some groups will provide a sunflower check to find out how smart they are.

Here are 3 examples:

– Denton Ryan vs. Ryan. Frisco Wakeland: Wolverines finished 4-0. Each win at least 28 points, adding last week’s 45-13 victory over The Colony. Ballbeaver Jared White had a massive start to the season. with 560 yards on the court and nine touchdowns We will be told a lot about Wakeland as opposed to Denton Ryan, the state’s top-ranked 5A-I team that has already won massively opposite Arlington Martin and Denton Guyer, a contender for a long run in the 6A playoffs.

Frisco Lebanon Trail vs Frisco: One of the last schools in the city opposite the oldest. Recently, Frisco ranked No. 6 in the state and demonstrated why, giving up 17 combined issues in his three victories over Frisco Independence, Frisco Reedy and Lake Dallas. The Lebanon Trail is 4-0 after going back to beat Lake Dallas last week, matching its total victories of the last two years combined: its two seasons at the school’s point in school history. The Blazers may be on their way to the playoffs. this season, however, what happens in the face of an elite Frisco defense will tell us more.

– Garland vs Sachse: Last year, the discussion about Garland focused on his talented sophomore organization, led by 4-star security star Chace Biddle and receiver Jordan Hudson, bound for Oklahoma. faithful to undefeated owls and whether his return to the playoffs may have come a year earlier than expected. A victory over Sachse, the king of Garland ISD for more than 4 years, would load a consultation in Garland’s season: Can owls win a district title? That answer is still a long way off, but a victory opposed to Sachse would increase more intrigue to that possibility.
