The COVID-19 pandemic has affected this school football season with 54 un played FBS groups. However, one credit is that Memphis or the AAFC team can reach school football playoffs.
With pac-12 and Big Ten not betting this fall, it’s not a crazy thought. Some experts think so, but others have doubts. This week’s USA Today school football predictions also didn’t have five teams in the school football playoffs and screenings for espn’s first bowl this week.
CBS Sports, however, asked two authors to expect Memphis or Cincinnati to succeed. It would take a very good normal season and hope that for a moment the VAC, Big 12 or SEC team will not sneak in.

But even if it’s difficult, it’s not impossible. Here are five things to know about the possibilities of the Tigers, as well as Cincinnati and the rest of the Group of Five:
With nine groups ranked Big 10 or Pac-12 out of the mix, the AAFC will reap the first results when the first Associated Press and Amway Coaches Top 25 polls are released this month.
Memphis has just come out of both preseason polls, but after winning their first game of the season, the Tigers will move on to the most sensible 20. with 8 groups missing in front of them.
This provides the AAFC with a better starting point than any other Group of Five convention to verify and defeat school football playoffs.
Memphis’ hardest path is in SMU (October 3), Cincinnati (October 31) and Navy (November 14). At home, the Tigers will host UCF (October 17) and Temple the following week.
They never won in the Navy and facing this offensive option in November will be a more complicated task than in September. Cincinnati is hungry for a rematch after the Tigers defeated them twice last year. UCF still has thirteen consecutive victories over Memphis.
If Memphis needs to succeed in the playoffs, he will have to face this challenge and then beat one of the groups in the AAC championship.
Cincinnati has a less difficult schedule than Memphis, however, his November 21 game at UCF will be a candidate for the AAFC Game of the Year. Cincinnati beat the Knights at home last season. It’s also the most important game for UCF since Cincinnati and Memphis are the toughest on the calendar.
UCF begins opposing Georgia Tech on September 19 in a rare non-conference game opposed to a Power Five team this season. A win over Georgia Tech may be just UCF’s RESUME, but not much because Yellow Jackets are not a component of the CCA class.
The trip from Cincinnati to SMU on October 24 has implications for the Memphis Bearcats the following week.
Much longer shots to get in. BYU will go to the army on September 19 in an attack that will remove one of those groups from the restriction. The appalachian state will have to outperform the most productive of the AAFC and is more complicated when the Sun Belt is not such a solid conference.
The army may put a brake on things if it defeats Cincinnati on September 26. However, the Black Knights lost to Tulane last season, so Cincinnati will be a big favorite.
If the AAFC devours itself and a team with a defeat is the champion, it can open the door to an undefeated team in group five or to an independent team like BYU or Army. But there’s a smart chance this is the AAFC. possibility and only his luck.
While this would possibly be the most productive possibility for this to happen, it is also more complicated than before. There is no branded game outside the conference to impress the electorate, and even if an AAFC team ranks in the most sensible 10, that means electorate. will not be more assewn towards the CCA, the big 12 or the SEC.
