Ask each manager what they should do in each movement window and you’ll probably get the same answer.
I’m not sure? Well, of course it’s about ending up in a stronger position than you started with. This can be due to a number of reasons, adding new signings, keeping key players in your ranks, and of course, adding more festival to the positions. Ideally, each and every club would have characteristics in each and every domain in the park and for Brendan Rodgers and Celtic, it can simply be said that one key domain is missing.
Nicolas Kuhn arrived as part of a £3m deal from Rapid Vienna to boost January spending. The winger adds an extra edge to the attacking ranks and his versatility is an interesting proposition for his new boss as he can function on both wings and in more complex roles. From now on, the focus will be on anything else and one of Parkhead’s priorities is left-back. Greg Taylor is the first choice, but MP Alexandro Bernabei has failed to rise to the most sensible in Scotland and is a rare feature in the team: a telling message from Rodgers, with the Argentine being one of those who could potentially leave.
Having only one important option and that uncertainty ended with a multitude of left-backs being linked to Celtic. This existing era of negotiation and negotiation lasts for about two weeks and the rumors will most likely heat up as the minutes continue. But who has been nominated for the role so far?Record Sport takes a look at SIX connected left-backs who can come in and wage a real war from the starting position in Rodgers’ XI.
The boy from Estoril is on Celtic’s radar and remains so. Reports in Portugal suggest that his club is in a position to do business and is waiting for an official offer.
They are said to cost around £4 million. This is a payment that Celtic have already paid for the players. His age of just 22 fits Parkhead’s criteria, which aims to take young customers to the next point and resell them for millions in profits.
This is circulating this summer, but any deal would have an announced value of £7 million. He dealt a blow to Celtic this summer by stating that his goal is to play the crusade in Nantes. He’s only 21 years old, which dovetails with Glasgow’s East Moving Policy. Cameron Carter-Vickers, Jota and Christopher Jullien have all been sold over the years for the same value. But a decision this month is unlikely given his previous comments.
His good form at Dundee has alerted both Celtic and Rangers. Playing at Dens Park proves that he would adapt to the league and play in Scotland without any problems, but after being called up through Liverpool, it would be a waiting game. If Jurgen Klopp were to be used in the upcoming games, a loan would be out of the equation and allow him to be in charge of the Dark Blues again.
For fans, he would be a smart signing for the club, although ONLY on a permanent contract. It seems that will depend on Liverpool’s plans over the coming weeks and months, as they monitor the recovery of their own stars such as Andy Robertson from injury. in the south mean that any final resolution on Beck will come towards the end of the month.
There was some passing mentions in the summer amongst the Hoops faithful and it is one they’d like to see. His current contract runs out in 2025 so Celtic could well try tempt Ipswich Town with an offer if he’s one they would consider.
But whether the English Championship promotion chasers would do business for a key player at this stage remains to be seen. In 24 appearances he’s contributed an incredible 12 assists. That’s a one in every two game ratio. That’s the kind of numbers that would get fans off their seats and with the champions dominating and creating in most games – you wonder how that would translate.
This one could have more legs than most mainly due to his contract situation at FC Twente. The left-back has a deal until the summer meaning he can start speaking to clubs over a pre-contract.
The 26-year-old defender, nicknamed ‘Smaldini’ in his homeland due to his similarities to legendary Italian full-back Paolo Maldini, has been a regular in the Eredivisie since returning from injury last season. As for his future, it may not be impossible to reach an agreement if the Hoops settle on him. The Rangers have also been linked.
This one is maybe the most unlikely as initial links came back during Ange Postecoglou’s tenure in Glasgow. The Barnsley defender still remains at Oakwell and has been a regular feature in their team. At just 23 he fits the criteria for signing while he is also experienced on the international scene with caps for Hungary at senior level. Supporters may well get a closer glimpse at him this summer if he is selected for Euro 2024 and comes up against Scotland and Steve Clarke in the groups.
