A small single-engine plane made an emergency landing on a highway in Ajax, Ontario, on Monday night, causing minimal injuries and no injuries.
Durham Regional Police reported on X (formerly Twitter) at 8:39 p. m. They were investigating a small accident at the intersection of Bayly Street East and Audley Road South in Ajax. The intersection is a few hundred yards south of busy Highway 401 and about seven miles east of the Pickering Nuclear Power Plant.
In an update about an hour later, police reported no injuries, streetlights in the domain and the plane were damaged. The plane “made an emergency landing after an engine failure and the pilot was able to slide the plane onto the roadway,” police said. He said in a statement, adding that the domain remained closed for investigation.
Darshan Patel, a resident of a construction site near the crash site, posted photographs of the plane on social media.
“We were watching TV and this plane flew over our construction silently,” Patel told the Toronto Star. “We had never noticed a plane flying at this altitude. We followed it and it looked like it was going to crash.
