A user seriously injured and others hospitalized after a bus accident in Manchester

One rider was seriously injured and nine others were taken to hospital after a bus crashed into a shop in central Manchester.

Police, fire and ambulance crews were dispatched after reporting the incident in Piccadilly Gardens.

A spokesperson for the Northwest Ambulance Service said one rider was seriously injured and taken to hospital. Ten other people were tested, nine of whom were hospitalized.

Photos from the scene show the sidewalk cordoned off with the front of the bus by a bubble tea shop called T4.

A spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service said: “At around 1. 15pm this afternoon we responded to a twist of fate on a bus near Piccadilly Gardens in Manchester.

“Four ambulances, two senior paramedics, a bicycle lifeguard, an operational commander and the Hazardous Area Response Team responded to the scene after it was reported that the vehicle had entered a building.

“A seriously injured patient was temporarily taken to the hospital. Ten other people were tested, nine of whom were hospitalized. We wish all those affected a full and speedy recovery.

In a statement, Greater Manchester Police (GMP) said: “At around 1:00pm. Today, police received reports of a collision involving a bus and a shop in Piccadilly Gardens.

“Police were present, along with colleagues from the North West Ambulance Service and the Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service.

“There are roads cut off in the area as emergency crews remain on site to deal with the collision and officials from GMP’s Serious Collision Investigation Unit are present.

“We ask the public to avoid dominance where imaginable while officials identify all circumstances. “

Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Services said: “Today at 1. 15pm, two fire engines from Manchester Central and Salford fire stations and the Technical Response Unit from Ashton Fire Station were called to an incident on Parker Street in Manchester city centre.

“The groups were there for about an hour and forty-five minutes. “

Howard Hartley, Head of Facilities Management at Transport for Greater Manchester (TfGM), said: “Lately, buses and trams have been unable to stop in Piccadilly Gardens while the emergency deals with a serious incident.

A large police cordon remains in place as car accident investigators continue to work at the scene.
