Aaron Anselmino heads to Chelsea ahead of £17m move from Boca Juniors

Boca Juniors star Aaron Anselmino is due to travel to London for a medical before finalising a £17m move to Chelsea.

Chelsea have agreed a long-term deal with 19-year-old defender Anselmino and have reached an agreement with his Buenos Aires club.

The much-loved defender will complete his move to Chelsea in the coming days and will then return to Boca on loan, probably for the entire upcoming season.

Chelsea’s new bosses see Anselmino as a talented youngster with enough potential to be a mainstay for the Blues and are keen to thoroughly encourage his progress.

Anselmino is now the newest in a series of young South American talents imported to Stamford Bridge.

Chelsea signed young Brazilian striker Estevao Willian from Palmeiras this summer for a down payment of £29. 5m, and famed Brazilian striker Neymar tipped the teenager towards a remarkable career.

The 17-year-old is considered capable of fitting in one of the most sensible talents of Brazil’s next generation, and Les Bleus see his capture as a first blow.

Estevao will take over at Stamford Bridge after turning 18, highlighting Chelsea’s long-term investment and strategy around long-term stars.

The Blues have also invested money in other South American talents, adding Kendry Paez, Andrey Santos, Deivid Washington and Angelo Gabriel.
