Following this week’s disappointing news that Aaron Plessinger will be out for the remainder of 2024 due to a fractured elbow, he and Red Bull KTM have announced a contract extension through the end of the 2025 SuperMotocross season.
Plessinger fractured his elbow in a relaxed practice in Foxborough last week and participated in the late-night show.
“I am excited to remain with Red Bull KTM until 2025,” Plessinger said in a statement. “It’s a wonderful team and I think we’re going to do wonderful things combined in the long run, even bigger and more wonderful than we did. “I’ve made it so far. I couldn’t be happier to stay with this circle of family members and build where we are, the point where we’ve been able to succeed this season.
“For this year, we made some major adjustments in the off-season and we haven’t actually replaced the bike since, which actually worked in our favour. I won my first Supercross Main Event, got 3 podiums overall and everything fell into place. for us this year. It’s the biggest thrill I’ve had in my entire 450 career and I’m just enjoying the ride, which is weird, and I’m very lucky. I’m excited to be back for 2025, so we keep progressing and I’m doing my best to get to the point we’re aiming for once I’m able to line up away from home again. “I’ll still be running at full speed when I come back from injury and I’m really lucky. Stay with the crew.
In addition to winning his first race of the year, Plessinger wore the red plate indicating his advantage for two weeks. He donned the plate after his win in San Francisco and kept it until the first Triple Crown race in Anaheim 2.
“We are pleased to have Aaron back on the team for 2025; he is an asset to our team in many ways, from his personality to his driving to his results,” said Ian Harrison, Red Bull KTM Team Principal. He joined our team in 2021, he has continued to progress every year and this 2024 season we have made as productive as possible with him.
“Once he returns, we look forward to continuing this momentum and enjoying the team for the rest of the year and into 2025. It’s exciting to have him on our team and I look forward to being with him next year. “He’s only smart for himself, but he’s also smart for the other drivers, as well as for the morale of our team, the mechanics and everyone. He is a wonderful user and a genuine asset to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team.
Plessinger is expected to return to action for the Pro Motocross season opener on May 25 in Pala, California.
