Aberdeen FC Community Trust’s new director aims to take it to a ‘new level’

The new leader of the Aberdeen FC Community Trust is Liz Bowie.

Ms Bowie joins the group after 21 years at the University of Aberdeen, where she was Director of Development and Alumni Relations, responsible for fundraising, alumni engagement, donor care, marketing and operational support.

She replaces Ally Prockter, who stepped down as leader last year.

Ms Bowie is no stranger to the trust, having worked with the charitable arm of Aberdeen FC during her time with the university and she is excited to be taking on a new challenge.

She said: “Over the last 18 months the college has partnered with the AFC and the Community Trust and I have met many other people at the club, and I am excited about the paintings taking place within the club and the netpaintings trust .

“I think after 21 years at the university, which was a very varied place, the concept of making an impact on local communities is really nice and I think there’s a lot of potential there. “

Bowie joins the organization five months after being named Best Professional Football Club at the 2019 UEFA Grassroots Awards and believes the popularity the AFCCT has gained since its inception provides it with the best platform to continue its growth.

She said: “The team are quite rightly proud of the awards they have won and if we’re able to share our experiences to a wider community then fantastic.

“Obviously there is lots for us to learn from other organisations and I’d like to see an environment where we can share with other trusts and foundations what they are doing for the greater good.

“With that we can also laugh a little. We need to give the city, the club and our fans the pride of knowing that we are all in this together. “

“I have the privilege of painting with a fantastic team, young, enthusiastic and full of life. They did amazing things in the first five years.

“But now we have the opportunity to take a look at a very varied diversity of projects, see where our concentration spaces could be, and take them to another level. “
