Former Liverpool midfielder Adam Lallana has said the new Brighton club is at a level of progression they had experienced at Anfield.

The 32-year-old joined the Seagulls last month on a three-year contract after finishing his at Merseyside.

Lallana, who has played a key role in Jurgen Klopp’s revolution from the beginning, said Graham Potter’s team faced a task the German faced when he joined the Reds in 2015.

The Premier League winner told Brighton’s official website: “In terms of how they play, they need to handle the ball, play and dominate the property; those are some of my strengths.

“I’m passionate about gambling like that, but you can’t accept it as true. You have to be able to win tackle and get the ball back as well.

“If you get the right combination by winning with and without ball, then it’s a formula to get it right.

“If you play a lot more than you don’t play, you’ll win matches by doing the right things.

“It’s a task and it takes time to build it. I saw him in Liverpool, where we won the league in the fifth year [of Jurgen Klopp].

“It’s a step-by-step progression process.

“You may not get effects overnight, but if you stick to it, paint on anything and that’s what I think we’re going to do here in Brighton.”
