West Ham United midfielder Mohammed Kudus is in Ghana but will report to the Black Star camp in Kumasi ahead of AFCON 2023.
However, the 23-year-old is expected to sign up for the team’s trip to Ivory Coast on Wednesday, January 10 from Accra.
He will miss Ghana’s friendly game against Namibia tonight at 20:00 GMT at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi. Namibia will compete at the AFCON in Group E against Tunisia, Mali and South Africa.
Kudus’ arrival in Ghana has been announced via Henry Asante Twum, Director of Communications at the Ghana Football Association (GFA), and rumours are circulating of a possible absence of Kudus from the tournament to be held from January 13 to February 11.
The former Ajax Amsterdam player missed the Black Stars camp due to a “minor injury”, Black Stars head coach Chris Hughton said when announcing his 27-man squad for AFCON 2023.
Ghana is in Group B with Egypt, Cape Verde and Mozambique.
