AHL Wolves coach suspended 10 games for homophobic language opposed to official

The American Hockey League has suspended Chicago Wolves head coach Bob Nardella for 10 games for homophobic language directed at a referee.

Nardella was sentenced to in-game misconduct for abusing referees at 8:48 a. m. in the third leg of Chicago’s 8-5 loss to Texas on Saturday.

The AHL said in a statement that Nardella would be allowed to participate in team practices on non-game days.

He will return to the Wolves dugout on January 6.

The AHL announced that Wolves forward Dominic Franco earned an automatic one-game suspension for committing his second game of officiating misconduct of the season.

The Wolves, who have no association with any NHL teams, were scheduled for the Iowa Wild on Tuesday.
