On Friday afternoon, Birmingham City announced Aitor Karanka as the club’s new manager, succeeding Spaniard Pep Clotet, who left the Midlands club at the end of the 2019/20 season.
Karanka has not been concerned in football since he stopped coaching Nottingham Forest in January 2019.
Previously, the former Assistant Coach of Real Madrid had been promoted to the Premier League with Middlesbrough, but has since struggled to locate results.
Birmingham has taken its monetary position a step further with the sale of 23 million euros from Jude Bellingham, it is not known how much of this cash will pass to Karanka to reinvest.
“I’m very happy to join a club with Birmingham City’s history and fan base,” Karanka told the club’s official website.
“I express the enthusiasm and determination that everyone here has to paint in combination about the difficult situations that lie ahead.
“I thank the board for their abundant efforts to become the coach of this club.”
