Solids handling appliance manufacturer Ajax Equipment has provided one of the UK’s leading resource control suppliers with an ash packer, adding wear-resistant mixing pallets and clean-in-place functions, to remediate air pollutant control (APCr) residues.
The APCr is processed to convert it into a non-hazardous state suitable for storage. Effective processing of APCr requires careful mixing of ash with acid liquor to ensure that the fabrics are evenly combined. Ajax achieves this by basing the design of its ash conditioners on its twin-screw continuous mixer, spray bars to obtain a controlled source of liquor directly where the mixing action is greatest.
Due to the abrasive nature of the ash and Ajax’s expertise, the pallets were made from wear-resistant metal to ensure the performance of the conditioner. The mounting of the pallets also makes it easy to remove them, minimizing downtime if they need to be replaced.
“Ash like APCr requires careful handling because of the dangerous nature of the curtains, but also because if left behind, it will possibly stick to the conditioner and affect its performance. To cure the curtains and minimize operator exposure, the visitor asked for an on-site cleaning formula for the conditioner. Rotating spray bars with aerodynamic spray nozzles provide a smart cleaning policy, while laminated conditioner covers allow for simple inspection of the interior,” says Eddie McGee, Managing Director of Ajax Equipment.
