NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT
Ajax goalkeeper Diant Ramaj has welcomed interest from Arsenal, Manchester United and Chelsea and believes he is fit to make the move to the Premier League.
The 22-year-old, who left Eintracht Frankfurt last summer for Amsterdam, has been one of the few bright sparks for the Dutch giants in a disappointing campaign.
His performances have seen him connected to a summer turnaround, and Arsenal, United and Chelsea, among others, are expected to keep an eye on him.
The German is seen as the ideal number two for the Gunners and United, who already have David Raya and Andre Onana respectively, but could compete for the number one spot at Stamford Bridge.
Ramaj has now responded to the hypothesis and, although he accepted the rumours (and is reportedly afraid to move to the Premier League), for the moment he is satisfied at Ajax.
Asked about the rumours of the trio of Premier League giants, Ramaj told Voetbal International: “I’ve heard that too, yes. I see things like that as comments on my paintings here.
“I see the fact that the big clubs show interest as a compliment. I’m going to keep working on everything, like I’m doing now.
He continued, “I don’t get carried away, I just stay calm and stick with the details.
“That’s all I have on my mind, I’m too busy for other things [like a transfer], they’re paints for my agents. “
Asked if he felt fit to move to a more competitive league, he added: “I’m not afraid of anything, because I know what I can do.
“I just need to do my thing here, let’s see what the long term holds. “
Ramaj has kept just four clean sheets in 20 Eredivisie games this season and conceded 30 goals, but has played with an ever-evolving back four that has performed well below expectations.
He kept Aston Villa at bay in the first leg of the Europa Conference League round of 16 but then scored four goals in the second leg at Villa Park as Ajax softly exited the tournament.
