Alabama HC Nick Saban about the 2020 CFB season: ”I’ll play for the players”

Alabama head coach Nick Saban has responded to critics who fund efforts to play the 2020 school football season.

“Everyone acts like we want to play for the money,” Saban told reporters Monday. “We play for the players. Me for the players.”

The six-time national championship winner said that all factors, in addition to physical fitness considerations amid the coronavirus pandemic, should be taken into account to take the most productive resolution for all involved.

“Now, is it more vital than public safety? No, I don’t think so,” he said. “Is there any way to do this and protect other people? I think a lot of other people are looking to do that, and if we can do that, I think we can play. If we can’t do that, then I think someone will make the resolution not to play. But I don’t think we’ll try.”
