Washington activated Smith (lower leg) from the list/PUP on Sunday, Kyle Stackpole reports from the team’s official website.
After undergoing 17 surgeries to repair the horrific leg injury he suffered in November 2018, however, Smith received permission to resume football. According to Julie Donaldson’s official Washington website, Smith will be limited to individual workouts as they begin before education and education staff find out if it supports full touch practices. Although Smith’s surgically repaired right leg responds well to education, the 36-year-old is still expected to start in the 2020 season when a replacement draft gets leader Dwayne Haskins.
