Goalkeeper Alisson has revealed how he feels as part of Liverpool’s circle of relatives thanks to the club’s efforts to help him settle on Merseyside.
The foreigner from Brazil has had two incredibly successful seasons with the Reds of Jurgen Klopp since arriving from Rome in July 2018.
After winning the Champions League trophy at the end of their first campaign, he helped Liverpool finish a 30-year wait for a league name this year, injuries and suspension limited him to 29 senior appearances.
The 27-year-old carries what was then a world record for a goalkeeper, Chelsea surpassed it soon after for Kepa Arrizabalaga, but has proved his worth for the new Premier League champions ever since.
It’s just in the box where Alisson feels at home.
“Right now, it means everything,” he told the club as a component of his “Champions” series.
“Since we got here, we can feel that this is another club, a club that treats you like a circle of family members and can give you everything you want to play football, to stay focused on football.”
“So we’re here. We like it here. We also love the warmth we get from fans, they are also part of this family.”
It was his quick clearing that allowed Mohamed Salah to score the purpose of the moment in the final moments of Liverpool’s 2-0 win over Manchester United in January. The first partner to celebrate with the goalscorer? The keeper who had installed it, of course.
“It was a wonderful moment. All my life, everyone won’t forget this goal, this help,” Alisson said, before talking about his knee celebrations as he ran to sign up for Salah.
“I think about running, they don’t forget more about the race! It’s something I’ve never done before. I like to celebrate with myself.
“I try to stay focused on the game and know it at the last minute of the game. Then the game ended with that goal.
