A smiling Ally McCoist played down the controversy over her comments about new hate crimes in Scotland after answering questions from Alan Brazil.
The bill, passed by MPs in 2021, was passed on Monday and aims to address abuses that “stoke hatred” around age, religion, sexual orientation, transgender identity and disability. However, McCoist said he was stunned by the law’s arrival in Scotland. and revealed his fears that he and his fellow Rangers supporters would be in the firing line when they face Celtic this weekend.
The comments on talkSPORT sparked controversy with SNP MP Steven Bonnar among those criticising McCoist for his comments. And Brazil was quick to bring up the saga on the talkSPORT Breakfast Show. The die-hard Celtic once again put their co-hosts in the spotlight. for his comments, saying, “I see you’ve been in the headlines. . . “
McCoist temporarily laughed as he tried to move on: “I’m done with this. It turns out I’ve disappointed some people. ” The duo then discussed the action in the park later in the series, when McCoist revealed that he wouldn’t even be in the game after joking that he would break up the new act.
