Amazon delays return to London headquarters for two months

Retail giant Amazon has asked to continue operating from home until 2021, leading a wave of employers delaying return to the workplace amid the coronavirus outbreak.

In the past, the company had announced plans to allow staff around the world to stay home if they could do their job “effectively” until early January.

But after the government announced its goal of subjecting London to Level 2 blockade restrictions to combat virus cases, it delayed the scheduled return date for British workers to March.

Amazon’s gigantic British headquarters on London’s main square, which can accommodate up to 5,000 employees, has been largely empty since the first closure in March this year.
