TURIN, Italy (AP) – Midfielder Weston McKennie is about to become the first American player in Juventus.
The nine-time season fan-winner of Serie A released footage of McKennie’s arrival in Turin on Thursday before an expected loan from German club Schalke.
The agreement would involve a clause requiring Juventus to purchase all of McKennie’s rights at the end of the season.
McKennie, 21, can play in any midfield position, making him a bendy for new Juventus coach Andrea Pirlo.
McKennie played football while spending part of his training years in Germany.
Other U.S.-born Players in Serie A come with Alexi Lalas, Giuseppe Rossi, Michael Bradley and Oguchi Onyewu.
McKennie has joined Schalke since 2016.
