AMERICAN stars Heath and Press sign up for Man United Women in England

MANCHESTER, England – Tobin Heath and Christen Press are Top American’s last arrivals in the Women’s Super League after signing for Manchester United on Wednesday.

United joined rivals Manchester City to lead two members of the United States national team to The Best League in England for the 2020-21 season. Rose Lavelle and Sam Mewis signed for City last month.

Heath, extreme, and press, striker, are twice World Cup champions and have already played for their club in Europe.

Heath, 32, who chose the World Player of the Year award last year at Paris Saint-Germain in 2013 and 2014 and spent the past seven seasons with the Portland Thorns.

“I look to the challenge of competing in England, betting and opposing some of the world’s players,” said Heath, who has played 168 times for the United States and has been described as a “confirmed winner” through Man. United technician Casey Stoney.

Press has played in Sweden with Gothenburg FC and Tires FF, and has been most commonly recently at the Utah Royals. He has scored 58 goals in 138 appearances for the U. S. national team.

Previously, English defender Alex Greenwood signed a three-year contract with Manchester City after a season in France, where she won the Women’s Champions League trophy with Lyon.

Greenwood joins England defender Lucy Bronze in the City of Lyon.

City has won the Women’s Super League since 2016, but has recruited hard for this season.

“This club has inspired me with its success, the importance they attach to women’s football and the players they attract, and it’s an environment I’m looking for,” Greenwood said.
