Sporting CP manager Rúben Amorim has denied reports that he has held talks with Liverpool or any other club about his future.
Amorim, 39, is considered one of the most sensible candidates to succeed Jurgen Klopp this summer after Xabi Alonso showed his aim to stay at Bayer Leverkusen next season.

Asked about reports this week that Amorim had reached an agreement with Liverpool, Amorim said at Thursday’s press conference: “This is the last time I will speak about my future.
“There is no discussion, let alone agreement. The only thing we all need here is to be champions with Sporting and nothing will change.
“I’m the coach of Sporting, there have been no talks or agreements with any club, I’m focused, as always, on protecting my club.
“And since I have nothing to say: there will be no talks or agreements with the Sporting coach. The deal is closed, whether it’s for this club or another. “
Amorim’s contract with Sporting expires in June 2026. He has been in charge of the club since March 2020 and has a €20 million ($21 million) clause for foreign clubs.
However, Amorim has already stated in the past that he cannot guarantee his continuity at Sporting next season.
“The long term belongs to [Friday’s opponents] Gil [Vicente],” he said.
“I’m not going to talk about that, we ask ourselves the same questions. The goal is to win titles.
“I can’t say for sure we’re going to win the championship, so I can’t say for sure [I’m going to stay]. “
Sporting are four points behind nearest rivals Benfica at the top of the Primeira Liga and have a game in hand.
