An expert insists that Juventus have kept Andrea Pirlo

Juventus strangely appointed Andrea Pirlo as coach in the summer of 2020, after Maurizio Sarri’s tenure. Despite winning the Serie A title under Sarri last season, Juventus have been looking for their winning momentum.

However, under the leadership of the Green Pirlo, they ceded the league crown to Inter Milan, who guided them to victory in two domestic cups.

Despite those cup successes, Juventus opted to complement the tactic with Pirlo, replacing him with the return of Max Allegri in 2021.

Ironically, since Allegri’s return, Juventus have failed to win any trophies. Meanwhile, Pirlo moved to Sampdoria in the Italian division.

Former Sampdoria player and pundit Angelo Palombo believes Juventus have persisted with Pirlo at the helm.

He said, quoted via Tuttojuve:

“I liked the paintings that Andrea Pirlo does even when things weren’t going well. Now he’s probably adapted to the category too. Were Juve wrong not to keep him? I think so, he won two trophies. So many I think he has no personality, but that’s not true.

“They’ve given him a personality that’s enough for a hundred people and also ironic, even if it doesn’t seem like it. I like him as a coach.

Juve FC says

Pirlo had a great season in our dugout, but his team may have done more and his time marked the end of the good days for us as a club.

This is true if the main goal was to get 4th place. But we knew that Allegri had been re-signed through Agnelli to fight for the Scudetto. That’s why he resigned from Pirlo. No I care because Pirlo is simply a mediocre coach who doesn’t have a deep tactical formula like De Zerbi.

I can’t say that the 3 years would have been better with Pirlo, however, he brought more to the team than Allegri at the time. I think control has become difficult not to win the Scudetto like they did with Allegri and fired Pirlo at the Scudetto Stadium. Pirlo did well in his first year and, being a former Juventus player, he would have liked to have been older. We deserve to have given Pirlo more time to grow, but nobody asked for it. Me too. Allegri did well, but I think it’s time to move on.
