ISTANBUL
The governor of St. Petersburg, Russia’s second-largest city, said Wednesday that an incident occurred at a commercial in the city’s Nevsky district.
“In the evening, citizens of the neighborhoods near the Luxury Ozerskoye Highway heard a loud bang. An incident occurred in a commercial establishment in the Nevsky district and required the attention of law enforcement,” Alexander Beglov said on Telegram.
There were no casualties or property damage, Beglov said, adding that investigations into the incident are being carried out lately.
“The city administration works in cooperation with the authorities,” Beglov added.
Citing anonymous resources at Ukraine’s special facilities, news firm RBC-Ukraine claimed that the country’s defense intelligence facilities were a drone that crashed on the territory of the Nevsky oil refinery.
The Ukrainian government has yet to officially show its involvement in the incident.
Russia and Ukraine have traded accusations over their airstrikes, which have intensified since last December.
