Ange Postecoglou insists Tottenham are in a position to leave Harry Kane after confirming the striker is close to completing his move to Bayern Munich.
The club’s all-time top scorer is expected to complete the first part of his medical in Munich ahead of a deal proposal that could fetch up to £103. 8m, adding possible additions.
Kane was due to travel to Germany on Friday and, after being informed of a technical problem in the possible agreement, Postecoglou revealed that the measure was underway.
Speaking ahead of Sunday’s Premier League opener in Brentford, the Australian told reporters: “I don’t have a detailed account of all this, but I sense things have progressed to the point where this is going to happen. All the data I have at the moment. It looks like we’ll move on without Harry.
“Anyway, I don’t feel like I want anything. From my perspective, it’s about perceiving where we are. I perceive that the agreement is imminent.
While wasting his talisman on the eve of the new season is seen as problematic for a Tottenham side to return to the top four, Postecoglou says the club is preparing for the final result.
He added: “We have been preparing this, it is fair to say, for some time now. It doesn’t take a lot of research to realize that this is going to happen. So far, much of our work has been carried out in this spirit. It doesn’t radically replace my plans.

Tottenham signed Brazilian leader Richarlison last summer, the former Everton player suffered greatly in his first season as Kane’s assistant.
Argentine leader Alejo Véliz recently arrived from Rosario Central; The 19-year-old is perceived more as a choree at this stage.
To that end, Postecoglou hinted that a repositioning of Kane will most likely occur before the move window closes, with Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku already an option.
He said: “There is still movement in the team and it’s a wonderful team with players we want to retire. There are about 3 weeks left in the window.
“I had a verbal exchange with Harry [Kane] on the first day and we were frank. There I got an indication that if the clubs agreed, he would leave.
“My preference is that it is resolved before the first game. These things don’t happen in isolation and everyone knows that. I haven’t heard anything from anyone about Harry’s change of decision.
“It’s better for Harry to speak for himself in terms of the decision, but he’s one of the most important at this football club and that doesn’t change.
“He holds on. His position among enthusiasts is obvious.
“I’m new to the building, I’m not a spokesperson for the club, but Kane’s reputation will be there. “
