Ange Postecoglou under pressure on what it’s like for the team to have “multiple lanes” in front of goal after defenders Micky van de Ven and Pedro Porro found the back of the net in our 3-1 win over Forest on Sunday.
Both men made impressive moves as we, after Forest counter-attacked after our first goal created by Timo Werner, slid into their own net through Murillo, to equalise at half-time.
Ange made adjustments at half-time (Rodrigo Bentancur and Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg replaced Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr) and we took control, first Micky and then Pedro making it 2-1 and 3-1 on the hour mark. stayed at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
Pictured in this article, there were 15 other goalscorers this season, with six defenders in goal (Micky, Pedro, Destiny Udogie, Cristian Romero, Emerson Royal and Ben Davies) more than any other Premier League team.
Speaking on our Review Show, Ange told us: “As you saw against Forest, we work hard with guys like Pedro and Destiny when they get to the final third, so they have the quality to hurt the opponent. Pedro scored his goal. Very well and our ability, hopefully, to have tactics to score goals, to not depend on one or two, is going to be important, I think today was smart.
“It’s essential, because we were never going to upgrade Harry (Kane) with someone else who was going to score so many goals, those types of players just don’t exist, so for us it was a collective question and how we can do it. Close that gap.
“Sonny did a wonderful job leading the line, even today he didn’t score a goal, he was unlucky, he worked hard for the team and the wingers contributed. For us it’s a little bit of everything from everyone, we think there’s more to this team’s goals, especially in midfield, it’s wonderful to see a couple of defenders score them today.
