BALTIMORE (AP) — A vigil was held Saturday night to commemorate the life of Glen Burnie local Anthony Hinton III, a defensive lineman at Shenandoah University who died in an accident.
Friends from as far away as Pennsylvania traveled to Maryland Saturday night to honor the Glen Burnie High School alumnus.
“I met him when he was about 3 years old,” said Braxton Clarke, Hinton’s former teammate and friend.
Family and friends gathered at the site of Saturday night’s crash in which Hinton died after crashing into a tree last Wednesday.
“My brother is a light. . . such a beautiful light, so beautiful,” said Lynaie Hinton, Hinton’s sister.
Jayne Hinton has her son Anthony Hinton is the baby of the family.
Shortly after Wednesday morning, Hinton was driving an Infiniti on the Ritchie Expressway in Brooklyn Park when he lost control, crossed the elevated median and ran off the road.
“I love you. Be careful and make smart choices. I told him,” Jayne Hinton said.
“He’s a smart kid,” said Anthony Hinton Jr. , Hinton’s father. “Every parent was looking for a child like Anthony. Es my most productive friend and I will miss him. “
Hinton affectionately known as “Manman. ”
“Manman was one of the people who really left an effect on the heart,” Clarke said.
Hinton’s family says his legacy will continue.
“Everyone here will keep their calling alive no matter what,” said Madyson Hinton, Anthony Hinton’s sister.
Police did not release further details about the crash, but said the traffic protection department is investigating the crash.
