Aouar, 22, won his first call-up for the France national team on Thursday after impressing Lyon’s race to the Champions League semi-finals.
But Lyon announced that a recent coronavirus check had produced a positive result on Friday morning, just hours before the Ligue 1 crash with Dijon remains asymptomatic.
The much-loved midfielder, who has been linked to several leading European clubs, has been informed that he would possibly have to stay away from the first team’s formation for 15 days, depending on the long-running tests.
“The effects gained this morning through the club’s medical check revealed that Houssem Aouar is the only player on the team to test positive for COVID-19,” Lyon said.
“As soon as the effects were known, Houssem became isolated for a fortnight while still being utterly asymptomatic.
“Olympique Lyonnais can also verify that player contamination occurred outside the club.
“Houssem Aouar will be back in the first team in 10 to 15 days, depending on his upcoming follow-up tests.
France later proved that Aouar had been eliminated from his team and replaced by the Royal Betis Forward Fekir.
Les Bleus will face Sweden and Croatia in League of Nations matches on Five and 8 September.
