AP Top 25: Miami No. 12 is rising; Marshall enters the rankings

A week before the Big Ten groups were re-eligible for the Associated Press College Football Survey, Marshall ranked 25th for the first time since 2014 and Miami climbed to 12th place after a victory on the way to the conference.

No. 2 Alabama won a vote for first place. Oklahoma No. 3, followed by Georgia, Florida and LSU at No. 6, defending champion Tigers also won a vote for first place.

Marshall was last placed in the last vote of the 2014 season. The herd was 13-1 that season, peaking at number 18 in the standings and winning American Conference Championship Quarterback Rakeem Cato and offensive part Devon Johnson.
