Few Premier League figures have been as enthusiastic as Chelsea’s Jorginho.
First of all, he’s Maurizio Sarri’s metronome, the “Sarri-ball” pilot, and that’s a smart thing to do. So when all those passes don’t translate into victories, it’s bad. So it’s a mainstay of Frank Lampard’s midfield, so maybe he’s smart after all. So it’s irrelevant, in the hierarchical order, and it’s still bad.
Good trip, some say, but then he arrives for the last 10 minutes against Crystal Palace, his team 3-2 but all at sea. Stabilize the ship, Chelsea wins and listens, maybe this guy’s good. It is unstoppable, and it is not used, so what will remain for Jorginho?
You probably have your own opinion of 28-year-old Italian. You might think he’s a pass merchant who’s more in the way than a crab. You might think he’s the one who can make the groups vibrate, a tempo.
Either way, his chelsea days can be counted if he can’t convince Lampard to use it more. Here, Sportsmail advocates and opposes Jorginho.
Some see Jorginho as a pass merchant and he was ridiculed for a lack of assists last season
The 28-year-old splits up in Chelsea and falls off his with Frank Lampard
He won 3-2 at the Palace but young Billy Gilmour, right, the match
