Arik Armstead is going to the other side of the country.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Thursday that former San Francisco 49ers defensive back Armstead has signed a three-year, $51 million contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Armstead, 30, was reunited with his new team just days after his unexpected return from the 49ers.
Armstead, a 2015 first-round pick, was in San Francisco for his entire NFL career. He led the team in sacks in the 2019 season with 10. 0 sacks and was a very important piece on the defensive line, eventually becoming captain of the 49ers team. .
San Francisco made the decision to release Armstead due to salary cap concerns. He will now reunite with former 49ers general manager Trent Baalke on the Jaguars and contribute to a decent win this offseason for Jacksonville.
