Arizona Wildcats fans are feeling head coach Jedd Fisch’s resentment toward former convention rival Washington Huskies.

Who could Arizona pursue to replace Fisch as the next coach in Tucson?

Without delay, speculation focused on potential candidates to become the Wildcats’ next coach, with some familiar names among the conceivable targets for Arizona’s coaching search.

Whoever gets the job might have some work to do. Fisch went 10-3 in his final season in Arizona, but could face an exodus of players to the transfer portal amid the coaching change.

Here are some possible candidates to succeed Fisch as the Arizona Wildcats football coach, in no particular order.

On the Way Out: Jedd Fisch’s Arizona Comments Resurface After Announcing Departure for Washington

Brennan was a past candidate for the Arizona job when Fisch was hired. Maybe I’d make it this time? He was a graduate assistant in Arizona with Dick Tomey in 2000. San Jose State has gone 7-6, 7-5, 5-7 and 7-1 over the past 4 years.

He coached Dunn Arizona’s running backs from 2004 to 2006 and has been at Oklahoma State since 2011. He has a good reputation and has already been considered a possible top target for the Wildcats in some places.

Could the Wildcats promote their offensive coordinator to head coach?Carroll has coached in Arizona for the past three seasons, but he doesn’t revel in being a head coach.

Nansen is one of Arizona’s players and spent two seasons as the Wildcats’ defensive coordinator before recently accepting a task in Texas as defensive co-coordinator and linebackers coach.

‘Fraud’: Arizona Enthusiasts Attack Jedd Fisch After Coach Leaves for Washington

Might Arizona poach a Washington State coach after Washington poached Arizona’s? Dickert might be tempted to leave Washington State, which is one of two teams left in the Pac-12, for a more stable Big 12 environment with Arizona.

What Calhoun did to the Air Force is phenomenal. Could you need a new challenge in Arizona? He’s a proven winner and can provide the stability the Wildcats need.

Riley guided TCU to a national championship appearance as offensive coordinator in 2022. He is the younger brother of Lincoln Riley of USC and has roots in the Big 12.

Odom has coaching experience in Missouri and plenty of experience as a defensive coordinator. He guided UNLV to a 9-5 record last season. If he can win at UNLV, could he win in Arizona?

Could Arizona schools have two former Oregon offensive coordinators as head coaches?Stein replaced Kenny Dillingham and the Ducks didn’t miss a beat last season.

Many think Grubb could simply get the boss training assignment in Washington. Could Arizona be interested? Their Husky teams have inspired over the past two seasons.

Traylor is 39-14 in four seasons as UTSA coach. He’s another coach from the Group of Five who could be in a position to take a team to the next level.

Kinne went 12-2 at Incarnate Word in 2022 and 8-5 at Texas State in 2023. He has spent time in Hawaii and UCF, SMU, and Arkansas.

Frost led UCF to an undefeated 13-0 season in 2017. He went 16-31 in five seasons at Nebraska. He was absent from football last season.

Hauck went 129-36 on two trips to Montana (with a 15-49 run at UNLV in between). Still, it will be less difficult to win in Arizona than at UNLV.
