Arne Slot, Jurgen Klopp’s current replacement as Liverpool manager, has been warned of a mass exodus at Anfield next summer.
Klopp, who has made Liverpool one of England’s top groups since his appointment in 2015, announced in January that he would leave at the end of the campaign.
Slot, who last season led Feyenoord to the Eredivisie name and the KNVB Cup this year, is seen by Liverpool bosses as a successor. However, former Liverpool player Ryan Babel has now warned Slot about the demanding situations ahead with insider trading.
“In addition to Klopp, I perceive that at least 40 other people are leaving for the club. From chefs to analysts. A coach who comes has to update that, and that doesn’t seem easy to me,” Babel told VoetbalPrimeur.
Babel later clarified that those who were due to leave had been brought to Anfield via Klopp, which served as a stark warning to Slot about the task he could face if he were to take command at Anfield.
Babel turned to X, adding: “Any coach who wants to take on the task at the #LFC wants to know that he wants to bring more than just a coaching staff to the club. More than 30 more people in the scenes Klopp recruited, who have played a MAJOR role in the #LFC’s good fortune over the years, are also leaving. “
Babel is the only former Liverpool player to express his views on Slot’s appointment. Reds icon Jamie Carragher also warned that Feyenoord’s move to Anfield would be a “big leap” for Slot.
Speaking to Sky Sports, he said: “What I would say from Feyenoord to Liverpool is a big leap and I think it shows a lack of genuine, sensible managers at the moment when you look at who is looking for Liverpool. Initially, probably Xabi. Alonso is only his first full season as a coach.
“We talked about Amorin from Sporting Lisbon but he’s only 39 years old. Now, Arne Slot happens to be the favorite right now. I don’t think it’s like the arrival of Rafa Benitez or Jurgen Klopp. Benitez went on to win two league titles and a UEFA Cup.
“Jurgen Klopp arrives after winning some titles with Borussia Dortmund and reaching a Champions League final. Liverpool were in another zone then, and it was a team coached by Rafa Benitez, of which he was a part and who were looking to qualify in the top four. .
“The same thing happened to Jurgen Klopp when he arrived. Liverpool are now in another domain and are keen to fight for the Premier League next season and the Champions League, they are expected to triumph at least in the quarter-finals. I think it’s the same thing. It’s a big step forward, he’s obviously a wonderful coach and he’s got a smart track record with the clubs he’s controlled so far, so we’ll see. “
