Andy Robertson will miss Liverpool’s pre-season matches in the United States, Real Betis, Arsenal and Manchester United.
The Reds begin their US tour against Betis on Friday night before taking on two of their biggest Premier League rivals. Arsenal await him in Philadelphia on August 1 and a friendly against United will take place three days later in South Carolina.
Robertson suffered an ankle injury during Scotland’s Euro 2024 campaign that ended at the organizational stage, and the left-back is expected to return at the end of the US tour.
“He’s not fully supported yet,” Slot said of Robertson. “But we expect it to be fully compatible again at the end of the trip, right after the trip.
“He was slightly injured at the Euro and then had to recover after playing those games. But we will be waiting for him after our excursion, but he is still here with us.
In total, Liverpool have 11 players and start their tour with a giant contingent of the team that is still on summer break after Euro 2024 and the Copa America.
Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Cody Gakpo, Ryan Gravenberch, Ibrahima Konate, Luis Diaz, Alisson Becker and Darwin Nunez are on vacation.
Diogo Jota is expected to join the squad this week, and Slot expects more expensive ones to arrive before returning to Merseyside.
“I think Diogo arrives today, so he’ll have his day of control and the next day he’ll sign up for the session,” Slot said.
“And I think it’s Ibou [Konate] and Ryan who will sign up with us later in the trip. I don’t think I’ve forgotten anyone. The rest will start after the trip, when we return to Liverpool.
Meanwhile, Alexander-Arnold is heavily linked with a move to Real Madrid as his contract at Anfield expires next summer.
When asked about his right-back, Slot said: “My answer would probably be a little boring. . . I think it’s the same answer you’ve heard for the last five, six, seven years. The contractual conditions are not discussed here.
Liverpool begins the new Premier League crusade on August 17 at the newly promoted Ipswich Town.
