Feyenoord head coach Arne Slot is now the leading candidate to be Liverpool’s new manager.
Jurgen Klopp will leave Anfield at the end of the season and the club have been busy contacting potential successors, with Slot now considered the most sensible of a shortlist of three to seven managers.
Slot has enjoyed good luck at Feyenoord and previously AZ, who attracted Tottenham last summer before the appointment of Angel Postecoglou.
The 45-year-old turned down Spurs last summer in favour of signing a new contract, but is in a position to leave the Dutch giants.
Xabi Alonso, who is still at Bayer Leverkusen, and Ruben Amorim, a West Ham target, are linked. Brighton’s Roberto De Zerbi is still interesting.
Liverpool are open to other characteristics and see Bayern Munich as a possible rival for Slot’s signing.
Liverpool are leading an extensive process, led by new leader Michael Edwards.
Edwards, who worked in Liverpool between 2016 and 2022, uses data-driven research to aid in his research.
Liverpool’s new principal, Richard Hughes, and director of studios Will Spearman are also concerned in the search for Klopp’s successor.
