Arne Slot has revealed that his move to Liverpool is due to “difficult negotiations” between the Reds and current club Feyenoord.
The Dutchman has the favourite to renew Jurgen Klopp at Anfield. Klopp has announced that he will leave at the end of the season in January.
Slot, lately at Eredivisie giants Feyenoord, has shown that he can take the reins. However, it is now up to the two clubs to reach an agreement on this transfer.
It has been reported in the past that the Reds are expected to pay around £8. 59 million for Slot’s services. The 45-year-old has recently had two years left to run out his contract at Rotterdam.
It is yet to be proven whether Liverpool have agreed to pay the sum. However, Slot showed that the two clubs are in talks and it is now up to them to come to an agreement.
He said: “I think a smart offer has already been made. And it looks like Feyenoord will already pay the Dutch for a coach. “
“And somehow I still have the impression that in recent years I’ve behaved so well and made so much money, that Feyenoord think so. Although thinking is probably not the right word considering the amounts at stake. “
Slot added: “I don’t think ‘desire’ is the right word when you know the amounts involved. Desire is when you have a clause in your contract, and that’s the most they’re willing to pay.

“Then they will be able to communicate their wishes. Now it’s just a matter of complicated negotiations, which is everyone’s right. But I’m sure they’ll get a deal. “
If Liverpool were to reach an agreement with Feyenoord, their long and frustrating search for a new manager would come to an end. Former midfielder Xabi Alonso, first of all, gave the impression of being the favourite for the job.
However, he later showed his goal with new Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen. Sporting Lisbon coach Ruben Amorim emerged as a viable candidate at the time.
The Portuguese coach’s talks with West Ham have put a loan on the back burner. It is now highly unlikely that Amorim will sign for the Premier League in any way after the stuttering negotiations with the Hammers.
Having now opted for Slot, Liverpool will do everything they can to try and lure him to the Premier League from the moment he asks. He had already been targeted by Tottenham, but the north London side opted for current manager Ange Postecolgou.
