While there’s no question that this Manchester City team is not a great vintage in either form or health, the way Arsenal showcased its versatility under Mikel Arteta was eye-opening even for his biggest supporters. A well-disciplined press helped the Gunners get ahead of City. They then searched for the second but in a calculated way that wasn’t simply hunkering down, though that was soon demanded as City grabbed hold of the game for the better part of the first half and equalized through Savinho setting up Haaland in the second half. That’s when Arsenal showed it is full of mettle and wisdom, quickly retaking the lead and then pounding away at City the minute they sniffed weakness. City veteran John Stones seemed bewildered in his post-match interview and that wasn’t a matter of “woe is me” as much as it was a representative of a team that went from more-likely winner to well-and-truly beaten within a span of a dozen minutes or so.
Arsenal will go to Newcast on Wednesday dragging 2-0 after a League Cup semi-final level. Their next Premier League Fit is on February 15 (Saturday) at Leicester City.
Man City will go to Leyton Orient on early Saturday in the fourth circular of the FA Cup, then welcomed Real Madrid the classifications of the Champions League. The next Premier League Fit for City is February 15 (Saturday) opposite Newcastle United.

A lightning counter attack ends with Havertz spinning one past Stones and Ortega.
James McAtee and Kevin de Bruyne came on for Phil Foden and Omar Marmoush.
3-1 Arsenal’,
Arsenal broke out at the counter and Martinelli in him. But Ortega saves his low shot. The city is now taking many more risks.
Myles Lewis-Skelly Cup left and a good look is rolled up in the maximum remote corner of the pole! What a way to score his first Arsenal goal. Then he arrives at Erling Haaland’s birthday party. This position unleashed!
Arsenal resumes advance. Foden provides the ball and Thomas Party’s shot diverts the back of John Stones and flies. What a game!
It had happened. Savinho gets into a cross and Haaland beats Saliba in the air and buries the header.
There are lots of moans and groans when Arsenal pick the wrong pass or City create something.
Erling Haaland is having a tough time. Just seven touches so far and every time either Gabriel or Saliba beat him in a challenge a big roar goes up. The Arsenal fans are loving seeing Haaland struggle.
A fast start from Arsenal led to Akanji’s mistake as Odegaard put them ahead. Havertz should have made it 2-0 but City have improved and have gone close on a couple of occasions through Gvardiol’s header and Savinho’s low shot. Haaland is getting nothing out of Saliba and Gabriel and it’s so far, so good for Arsenal.
A cross is whipped in and Saliba’s header can only flick it to Savinho. He drills a low shot on goal and a big deflection sends the ball to Raya’s right down low and he saves really well. Big stop just before the break.
Man City are dominating possession now and Gvardiol whips over a brilliant cross to the back post but it’s speedy and Bernardo Silva can’t get on the end of it as Arsenal clear. Replays show Raya actually got a hand on that cross. Important touch just before half time.
This game is bubbling up nicely on the pitch with some meaty challenges flying in. Off the pitch City’s fans go in with a two-footer of their own as they sing “you nearly won the league!” to the Arsenal fans. Bit harsh. But factually correct. Again.
What a huge moment. Ortega gives it to Kovacic under pressure on the edge of the box and Rice wins it back. The ball drops to Kai Havertz who is clean through but he puts his shot wide. The home fans, and Havertz, can’t believe he’s put that wide. What is Ortega doing there!?
Marmoush’s corner is flicked on by Gvardiol at the near post and Raya saves but the ball loops up and hits the bar. Haaland was ready to head home on the line but the ball hitting the bar took it away from him. City have recovered well after a shaky start.
Oh wow. This is interesting. Replays show Arsenal defender Gabriel celebrating in Haaland’s face. He definitely stayed humble there…
Perfect start for Arsenal! Akanji is taken into property, while Trossard brings him back and they dig up the rice which digs up Hvertz and cuts it to Odeegaard to finish. This position is swinging!” 1-0 at Arsenal!”It’s the song. Correct, correct. And it is booming in this jumping stage.
The word in the press room here at the Arsenal is that Ethan Nwaneri does not feel after the victory of mid -week in Girona, where he marked a beauty, so he is in the bank. It is logical to see Arsenal injury disorders in the attack and quality of Nwaneri.
Hello from sunny north London! What a game we have coming up here. Can City close the gap to Arsenal to 3 points? Will the Gunners stay hot on Liverpool’s heels? The big team news is that Raya is fit for Arsenal, which is a big boost. City have De Bruyne on the bench and Ederson is out injured.

With doubts over David Raya and Arsenal having Alin a Jesus and Saka position, the Gunners continue to lose key players when you think they are fit to start and follow Liverpool. Defensive injuries have had an effect on Manchester City, however, the addition of Marmoush gave their attackers a spice and as long as they protect properly, especially the sets, it looks like a game where the city will locate a means of victory with winning with a moment of magic. Arsenal 1-2 Manchester City.
General description of Arsenal vs Manchester City
The Gunners sit six points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool (who have a game in-hand) heading into this weekend but Mikel Arteta’s side are 13 games unbeaten in the league and are safely through to the Champions League last 16 automatically as they finished third in the League Phase. Arsenal also overcame a crazy red card to Myles Lewis-Skelly in the first half at Wolves last weekend to win 1-0, as his red card has since been overturned upon appeal. Can Arsenal overcome key injuries to kick on and make a statement against the four-time reigning champs?
Manchester City beat Chelsea 3-1 at home last weekend to underline their resurgence, as Pep Guardiola’s side have also reached the Champions League knockout play-off round after they beat Club Brugge on Wednesday. City have won four of their last five Premier League games with Phil Foden, Kevin de Bruyne and Erling Haaland leading the charge. In the return game at home against Arsenal back in September Manchester City scored deep into stoppage time to snatch a 2-2 draw. But that game also saw them lose influential midfielder Rodri to an ACL injury in the first half and that has had a huge impact on their season.
