Arsenal and Liverpool as Manchester United reduce interest in Dortmund star Donyell Malen, valued at £42m

NEWS. . . BUT NOT AS YOU KNOW IT

Manchester United have given Arsenal and Liverpool a major boost in their bid to sign Dortmund winger Donyell Malen this summer.

The Dutchman was closely linked with a move to Old Trafford in January after falling out of favour with Dortmund.

Since Jadon Sancho arrived on loan to the Germans from United, the Red Devils had influence over Dortmund.

The Bundesliga giants are keen to keep Sancho, so it is possible that United have used their interest in Malen in negotiations.

But Sky Deutschland claim United have cooled their interest in the winger, who has thirteen goals and five assists this season.

It is an incentive for Arsenal and Liverpool, who have shown interest in the former PSV Eindhoven ace.

Malen has made it clear to Dortmund bosses that he needs to leave the club and that they are promoting him.

The club are hoping to raise around £42 million from the sale of Malen, who they bought for £25 million in 2021.

Dortmund will then use the cash to make a bid for Sancho, who they sold to Manchester United for £73m in 2021.

United are in a position to deal a blow to Sancho and will focus on offers of around £40m.
